Mother Teresa: A Life Dedicated to Humanity

Mother Teresa also known as Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu worked tirelessly for the poor, sick, homeless and forgotten of society. She arrived in India in 1929. Lived for most of her life in Kolkata serving the people there.

She established the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, an organization that provides care to those in need. Her philosophy was very simple, but strong: Any little act of kindness can give someone hope when he feels forgotten!

Eventually her work acquired international fame. In 1979, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work and in 1980, she was awarded Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

Mother Teresa died on 5 September 1997. Her message of compassion still resonates with millions. In 2016, she was canonized as Saint Teresa of Calcutta by Pope Francis.

Her life leaves us with a timeless message:

“You don’t have to feed a hundred people, you just have to feed one.”
